Week 25: Perfection, DeFi, 14 days and meeting more friends
My week was good. Monday and Tuesday, I was in Hannover and had a board meeting. The other days mainly were APX days.
Getting things done, perfection and brilliance.
When we discussed our attitude and aspiration within the APX team this week, we had a quick discussion on what we aspire to and how we deal with the fact that there is always more that can be done than we will ever be able to do.
I do not think it is the perfection we can or should aim to get to, and I also believe that we have to avoid mediocrity. I believe that “done is better than perfect” and that brilliance is fine. With this, I think that it allows to get things done at a good quality, sometimes it might be possible to do something brilliant and investing energy and time to be better than average is essential. Doing all this at a high frequency might help to reach brilliance at times.
Decentralized Finance 2
I’ve spent a few hours this week figuring out decentralized finance. Understanding the building blocks and opportunities, and risks are quite a challenge. Right now, I have more questions than answers, and whenever I discover something new, I have more questions and ideas—figuring out what is happening where, how, and when is still my main challenge. Also, finding out when and where conversations happen is one of the challenges. I will be working on my signal-to-noise identification capabilities and share more. At least technically, I am able now to do all kinds of transactions.
14 days
My second vaccination shot was two weeks ago. On Tuesday, my digital vaccination pass changed its status to „vaccinated. “ So far, I have not used it once as all my restaurant visits were outdoors so far. I hope we can all get some of our much-missed freedom back, and with vaccination numbers going up, I hope we will not experience an intense fourth wave.
Here in Berlin, people enjoy the easing of the restrictions, and I have been to quite some restaurants over the past few days again. If we are lucky, I expect to have a relatively free summer with lots of outdoor activities and traveling. I think this will lead to some unleashing that will also have consequences on how people will spend their time and money. Fred Wilson has written an excellent piece about our potentially Analog Summer.
What I read and watched this week is not a lot. This was another week where I was in many meetings with confidential topics I cannot (yet) write about. Here is what I liked:
Cycling across the alps is something I want to do. I need to train more.

The LockPickingLawyer and the world’s most rigid “Slash proof bag”. I think I will leave mine at home from now on.

Thank you for reading, and have a great week!
