Week 15: Back from Staycation
Took a break, not really.
Welcome back!
Over the past two weeks, I tried to take a break. Usually, we go on a vacation with my wife and the twins over the Easter holidays. Preferably to southeast Asia. This (and last) year, unfortunately, going away was not possible. So I tried to relax and decouple while we were in Berlin. Here is how it went:
Vacation at home - staycation
Theoretically, this should work. But it did not exactly work for me. Relaxing by decoupling from normal life was super hard for me to do. There are so many rhythms and habits here that it was next to impossible not to grab a phone or iPad, check mail, go into the library, and “work a little.” We did some house cleaning and sorting of things and documents and other stuff. But in the end, I did not manage to really decouple. I did some hikes alone and with my family,, but a day hike is different from a multi-day trip where you do not have any obligations and are free to walk, rest, eat and sleep when you want. I hope we all will be able to have these times again soon.
Over the past two weeks I did not do too many things outside of the few things I did with and for APX and my other roles. In my time off I was either outside or read things, books or watched youtube. The shareable things you will find below.
